FREE CHECKLIST for travelling on holiday with a baby

FREE CHECKLIST for family holidays with a baby what to pack???? Yes we’ve all done it thought we’d have a nice little “family moon” whilst on maternity leave jetting off to somewhere sunny and exotic with our babies, we even book it with our head in the clouds thinking joe perfect it’s going to be. Yes it will be amazing but planning ahead is the key to success with this one. It’s imperative you don’t forget anything your baby will need for the entire week or two that your away otherwise it will become a nightmare. Don’t panic though! As your mind races round thinking of everything you need stop! Take a breath and print out this checklist of items. You can add on your own personalised items if you need to such as prescribed medication etc. This is just a rough guide of the essentials your going to need to take with you.

Ok so as far as packing goes it can be disastrous if you forget something and when you have a family to think about it can get quite hectic so I’ve devised a checklist you can print out and keep hold off to make sure your holiday runs smoothly.

  • Nappies
  • Baby wipes
  • Milk
  • Bottles
  • Bottle brush
  • Sterilising solution
  • Dummies
  • Dummy clip
  • Bibs
  • Disposable bibs
  • Baby food
  • Spoons and a bowl
  • Baby brush/ comb
  • Baby nail scissors/ clippers
  • Hats
  • SPF 50 sunscreen
  • Swim nappies
  • Swim suits
  • Swim jacket (for added warmth)
  • Swim ring
  • Vests
  • Tops
  • Shorts
  • Dresses
  • Shoes/ sandles
  • Cardigans
  • Light jacket
  • Socks
  • A few warmer outfits just in case
  • Medication- paracetamol, neurofen, gripe water, teething gel are my basics then any added medications for your child
  • First aid kit
  • Water cup
  • Toys
  • Teethers
  • Light weight Buggie
  • Blanket
  • Favourite comforter
  • Towel
  • Bath products and shampoo
  • Baby Sponge
  • Lightweight buggy
  • Sun shade/ protector

As you can see babies need the most things and it’s so easy to forget things.

TOP TIP- babies only get 10kg allowance in their suitcase and obviously they need much more than this. So unfortunately this means our suitcases need to contain less and I always try to get one other case to 10kg.

To help with this I’d highly recommend buying whatever you can from Boots online and you have the option at the checkout to collect from the Boots store at the airport (just check before you do it but it’s definitely the case at Manchester Airport UK).

Top tip- always have a bottle ready made for take off and landing. This stops their little ears from hurting and is also a great soother for when they feel the change in pressure onboard.

Thinking of a holiday but unsure where to travel to? Take a look at my post about travelling to Playa Blanca with children here:

  1. Sarah says:

This is great advice! I rely on having a packing list when we travel, even before we had a baby, although now it’s really essential. Haven’t travelled by plane with him yet but I’ll keep those tips in mind if we do!

  2. This is a great list of things to pack with babies and toddlers. It’s so hard to remember all the many little things that are so important to having a smooth trip. And your tip with the bottle for taking off and landing is great! You can give the older kids gum, but the babies obviously can’t.
